We have hit the halfway point in this pregnancy and I am still in such shock at how fast things have progressed over the last five months. We had our 20 weeks anatomy scan yesterday and I am pleased to inform you that our sweet baby is still indeed a girl, and she is completely healthy in every way. Being able to hold Justin's hand and have his support through the entire appointment was the best feeling in the world. He watched as the specialized tech measured every organ, certain parts of the brain, and the blood flow of our baby girl. We got ultrasound pictures of her profile, her little feet, and her sweet hands. Bean is head down and she looked so content in my uterus! She's measuring at a whopping 11 oz and is currently in the 50th percentile for her growth. As promised, here are the deets for my 20 week pregnancy highlights:
How far Along: 20 weeks
Nicknames for baby: Bean
Size of baby: About the size of a banana
Gender: It's a girl!
Symptoms: Lots of heartburn, shooting back pains, and fatigue
Best moment this week: Finding out that our baby is healthy and growing wonderfully
Movement: The past few days I have felt hard and distinct kicks
Food Cravings: Olives, salt and vinegar chips, pretty much anything of the salty variety
Food Aversions: Pasta, chicken, and anything with red or white sauce
What I Miss: Not having tums as a daily part of my life
Sleep: I am definitely having some insomnia
Justin: I can definitely tell that my raging hormones have taken a bit of toll on the husband. He hasn't been anything short of amazing with me, but his tolerance for my 0-100 emotions have been running thin. Not so much when I'm crying, but definitely when I'm angry. Mainly because the reasons I find to be angry are a bit irrational. We had a long talk about this yesterday, and I'm hoping our open communication puts an end to the frustration he has.
Ava: We talk about the baby constantly with Ava, and last night she assisted with pulling out the big baby stuff we once used with her. While we aren't concerned or worried as of right now, we are still doing all we can with her to prep her for the big arrival in just four short months.
What I am looking forward to this week: I am looking forward to detecting movement that can be felt on the outside! I can't wait to film Justin's reaction as well as Ava's.
Happy or moody most of the time: Even with my shift in hormones, I remain extremely happy all of the time. It's still fairly surreal that my baby bump has emerged, that my husband is experiencing all of this with me, and that this is our second baby. I remember a time when I never thought this was a possibility for Justin and I. It's safe to say I'm stuck on cloud 9.
Here are a couple photos from my anatomy scan yesterday morning. Both of my girls gave similar profiles! Such stubborn little ones ;) I also attached another potty shot for Baby Bean. Some of my readers still seem to be in a little disbelief that our little bean is a girl! After yesterday, there is absolutely no denying baby girl # 2 will soon be joining our family.
Happy Tuesday all!
