Surprising Hubby with Broncos vs. Bills Tickets on the 50 yard line

Monday, November 13, 2023

'Tis the season for touchdowns, tackles, and the joy of giving.
When I think of football fandom and the magic of making dreams come true, I see both my husband and the Broncos, of course. This year there was an impromptu opportunity for Justin to watch some good Monday night football -- IN PERSON and it's one that I'm eternally grateful to have orchestrated for the love of my life, Justin. With the holiday spirit in the air, I decided to gift Justin an experience he's been yearning for—a chance to witness the Denver Broncos face off against the Buffalo Bills, right from the coveted 50-yard line in Buffalo. It wasn't just any game; it was a clash of titans featuring the Broncos and the Bills, and the added twist of Von Miller, one of the best defensive players of all time, now gracing the Bills' roster. The planning was swift and it had to be quick -- from securing the perfect tickets to renting a car for Justin's journey to football paradise. We had less than a day leading up to the game with thankfully, very little preparation needed. Justin had to ask his commander, of course, because there was no way he was driving for over eight hours and having any type of normal workday on Monday or Tuesday. I, of course, was overseeing the usual—making sure the house was in order, the kids were taken care of, and all loose ends were tied. It was a labor of love, and the anticipation of the joy it would bring Justin fueled every task.

The afternoon of game day arrived, and I sent Justin off with a heart full of excitement. The kids and I transformed our bedroom into a mini-football haven, complete with team colors, and jerseys, and Ava firmly holding her phone, waiting to record what might be a glimpse of her dad on the big screen. We huddled together, eyes glued to the TV screen, ready to spot Daddy in the sea of fans at the 50-yard line.

As the game unfolded on the screen, our cheers and exclamations echoed through the house. There's an unparalleled joy in seeing someone you love basking in the glow of their passion. The camera panned to the sidelines, and we thought for sure we'd get the glimpse we were hoping for... we did not. I don't think it really mattered much at that point. Being on Facetime with Justin, watching his video clips, and flipping through the pictures he shared was more than enough to feel so happy about his joy. And you know, the excitement wasn't just confined to Buffalo; it reverberated through our home. We laughed, we cheered, and we were excited to share in the experience, even from miles away. It wasn't just a football game; it was a moment of connection, of making memories that would linger long after the final whistle. The best part? The Broncos left Buffalo with a WIN. The last game Justin attended, the outcome was not as satisfactory, so I know this made the drive more than worth it!

I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the ability to gift joy, to create moments that light up the ones we hold dear. This holiday season, I find solace in the simple act of making someone else filled with such joy, and in the shared happiness that binds us as a family.
