The "Please Touch Museum," is a magical wonderland that sparks curiosity, learning, and play in children of all ages.
Here is my review of the Please Touch Museum with our four children in tow. Our entire visit cost $36 (parking and carousel admission), thanks to the museum's participation in the Blue Star Museums program. As a proud military family, we were thrilled to learn that the Please Touch Museum was part of the Blue Star Museums program, which offers free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families during the summer (I wrote an entire blog about this last month). It was an opportunity we couldn't miss because it is a top 10-rated children's museum in our country and it happened to be in Philadephia, too!
When we got to the museum, we parked on the property (a sixteen-dollar charge that we would not have made had we known that parking on the street was an option) and we arrived a little early. The kids asked to take pictures with the sign outside and then they ran around for a bit. When we got inside, we were greeted by a vibrant and welcoming environment that instantly caught the attention of our kids. The museum looked like a work of art, and it hinted at the magic that awaited us inside. As we stepped through the doors, we were transported to a world tailored to children's imaginations.
The Please Touch Museum is designed to cater to children of all ages, ensuring there's something delightful for everyone. From toddlers to tweens, each child found activities that they really enjoyed.
Tatum was enthralled by "Wonderland," an interactive exhibit inspired by Lewis Carroll's classic tale, "Alice in Wonderland." With giant mushrooms, talking flowers, and a life-sized chessboard, it was a world she could explore to her heart's content. For our creative five-year-old, "City Capers" was a favorite. This exhibit allowed kids to take on various roles like firefighters, construction workers, and shopkeepers, promoting imaginative play and collaborative learning. Olivia loved the carousel (this did come at a $5 charge for each child) because of the unlimited rides and the magic that all of us adore with carousels. Ava spent her time split between the Alice in Wonderland exhibit (there was SO much to do for each kid and every age within this space) and all things water on the top floor of the museum.
What impressed us the most was how seamlessly the Please Touch Museum blended entertainment with education. Every exhibit was a learning opportunity, disguised as pure fun. While our kids were busy playing and exploring, they were simultaneously developing essential cognitive, social, and motor skills.
There were quite a few activities we were able to do together as a family. We laughed, collaborated, and shared the joy of discovery. It was a day when we, as parents, felt like kids again, cherishing every moment of our children's wonder and excitement.
