A celebration of sisterhood, sportsmanship, and a shared love for the game that has become a cornerstone of our family—basketball.
As the proud parent of two budding basketball enthusiasts, Ava and Olivia, I find myself marveling at the unique journey each of them is about to embark upon in their respective seasons Ava has participated in basketball since she was just six years old. A natural baller with so much potential (much like the women in my family and her daddy), is stepping onto the court for her fourth season of organized basketball. The evolution of her skills and passion for the game has been a joy to witness, and it's impossible to ignore the influence of her biggest fan and mentor, her daddy. His love for basketball has become a family affair, with Ava soaking up every piece of advice and basketball wisdom he imparts. As Ava gears up for another season, I can't help but feel a sense of pride in her growth, both on and off the court. It's more than just a sport for her; it's a bond with her dad, a source of confidence, and an avenue for self-discovery. The excitement in her eyes when she talks about being able to see the Knicks play against her favorite team, the Bucks this December, and witnessing the brilliance of Giannis, is infectious.
What adds an extra layer of joy to this basketball season is the fact that Olivia, our spirited and confident girl, is taking her first steps onto the basketball court. It's a milestone filled with excitement and anticipation, not just for her but for our entire family. While her clinics and games are not played with or against Ava (age group), the shared love for basketball has become a bridge that connects them in a way that transcends. Olivia (also thanks to their daddy) has discovered a love for the Boston Celtics and her basketball idol - Jason Tatum. The Celtics hold a special place in her heart as does Boston, and it's heartwarming to see how this sport has become a source of connection between our girls and Justin.
Justin is absolutely beaming with pride, and revels in the shared enthusiasm of his daughters for the game he holds dear. It's more than just a sport for him—it's a legacy he's passing down, a bond that we hope lasts for generations, and a source of joy that lights up our family dynamics. It once seemed so silly - the investment my husband has always had in sports (football and basketball) but as I Share this, I can't help but be filled with gratitude for the simple joys that basketball has brought into our lives. Here's to a season of hoops, shared dreams, and the unbreakable bond that ties our family together, one dribble at a time.
