Birth Without Fear Post

Saturday, March 15, 2014
I am strong because at 33 weeks and 5 days my baby was diagnosed with intrauterine growth restriction.

I am strong because I faced an induction knowing that my husband and our family would not be present for the birth.

I am strong because I went through over 11 hours of labor, without my daughter showing any signs of coming down the birth canal.

I am strong because despite a threatened c-section, I held my ground for a vaginal delivery

I am strong because although my doctor insisted that I would not have a vaginal birth, I knew my little girl just needed a little more time

I am strong because the first time my 5.11 baby met her daddy was through a computer screen, while he was over 7,000 miles away.

I am strong because due to a blood type incompatibility, I spent the first 48 hours of my daughter's life, fearful that her bilirubin levels would not come down.

I am strong because I made trips to the hospital each day of the first week of my daughter's life so she could have her blood taken.

I am strong because despite the doctor pushing for supplementing to help her jaundice, I held my ground and have been solely breastfeeding for almost 10 months now.

I am strong because I spent the first eight days of my daughter's life without her father present.

I am strong because I went through my entire pregnancy while my husband was deployed in Afghanistan.

I am strong because I am Ava's mommy, and my little one depends on me <3
