End of Summer

Sunday, September 17, 2017
Even though the weather is projected to be in the 90+ weather range for the next ten days, it still feels as if summer is officially coming to a close. I woke up this morning to football commentators, Justin putting meat in a marinade, and chilly air (partially because it's never above 73 degrees in our house). We pulled out the grill for likely the last time this season, I whipped up my mom's famous potato salad, and corn on the cob is prepped to cook. I can't say that I'm sad to see summer go but I do love that we indulge in these finales at the turn of every season. Speaking of, I realized last night that I haven't picked up my camera in almost two full weeks. Most people love the warm weather and summer... but summer in Texas is actually pretty crippling for me.

I hate trying to capture my everyday moments when its humid, hot, and icky outside. I don't like being limited on exploration and due to snakes, tarantulas, and chiggers (micro bugs that make you itch like crazy) it's pretty much impossible for me to venture out. I've also noticed that while the house we live in is beautiful, the lighting is less than ideal. I'm forced to use the same comfortable light I always do and that limits the stories I can capture. I guess that was a big chunk of complaints... but also a reminder of how excited I am about fall being right around the corner.

Fall in Texas is gorgeous and this year BOTH of my girls can roam the outdoors with comfortable weather. I'm most excited for that. I'm excited to watch their imaginations go wild on our walks through the neighborhood in the evenings. I'm excited to head down to the annual pumpkin palooza for our little city and watch the air balloons go up high in the sky. I'm excited to bring my camera everywhere without any hesitation. I'm just so dang excited. We are just over a month away from our first trip back home since we left and I can't even begin to tell you the kind of happy jitters I have about that. I feel like we are double dippin' in goodness this year... I have zero complaints about that.

Here's a small scroll through some of my favorite summer memories we made this year. Even though its not mama's favorite season... I know my family had a blast.
