Life Update

Wednesday, August 14, 2019

Friends, we've had such a busy summer! I haven't been on here nearly as much as I'd hoped, but rest assure - no matter how long the hiatus, the blog will never die. You guys know how much I love being able to share my life with all of you this way. And I will forever reference my blog for all the moments I have shared throughout the last seven years. Its been a while since I gave you guys a life update about our family of five all around, so thats exactly what I'm going to do.

Liam- In just over a month's time, my son has fallen down the second landing of stairs in our home, fallen flat on his face - causing his nose to bleed, and has done more jumps and leaps than my heart can handle off of various items in our home. Most of the time he finds this stuff hilarious and I honestly feel like I'm constantly on the border of a heart attack. People have told us how "rough" boys can be... I didn't want to conform to that idea until my son showed us his personality. Well let me tell you, his personality has arrived FULL FORCE and it is flippin' bananas over here, always with him. He is such a little daredevil and I know that we are in for some serious bumps and bruises with this one.

Olivia- Watching this (almost) preschooler come into her own is breathtaking for me. She's still full of sass, spunk, and dramatics (like her mama) but she's growing up, guys. We are on the fence on wether or not to start her in a preschool program right now. She's extremely precocious and really we'd only be doing it for school structure... but something is telling me to wait until she's 4. I'm pretty sure that is what we will do. For now she is enjoying swim classes, gymnastics, and *soon* ballet. I love watching her excitement over all the new skills she's learning. Currently she's being introduced to vault in her mighty mini gymnastics class and she is absolutely crushing it!

Ava- She'll be starting first grade in just a few short weeks. Emotions are at an all time high with this one. I sometimes stare at her and wonder why time has to rob us so quickly? She's beautiful, friends. Absolutely stunning. Watching Ava dive into all things STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) has us seriously over the moon. Her love of science, math, and robotics (no lie) is seriously outstanding. I love feeding her mind with all the curious newfound elements. Her theme this year is literally dinosaur everything and when I made her back to school poster yesterday, she requested both a dinosaur and her favorite planet (earth) on her poster. I adore this phase we are in, though the emotional aspect is challenging at times. I always want Ava to know that its okay to feel exactly what she's feeling but I also don't want to encourage meltdowns. I know we have them and that's fine, but I'm not one for whining without solution.

Justin- I'm not sure that I mentioned it (maybe I did?) Justin spent nearly a month at Station Commander school and came home to pinning E7 AND receiving his gold recruiter badge. I'm so, so dang proud of this man of mine. He works incredibly hard and watching that hard work reward him is completely humbling. This week Justin will be working the county fair and its sure to be long days for us and for him. The kids LOVE to be around their daddy so its always a little rough when he's not home during their "normal" time. He took a week of vacation at the end of this month so that is something we definitely have to look forward to. We haven't decided where we will go or what we will do, but I'm just glad we will all be together. Unplugged and together.

Leilani- I added a minor to my new degree plan and let me tell you, I'm insane. I keep adding more work to my current load and have literally asked myself, "Are you a crazy person?!" I'm trying really hard to juggle everything for everyone and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't on the struggle bus most days. I know this season won't be long lasting, but boy does it feel that way. My goal this year is to continue to crush it with my new degree plan, tend to these babies and their daddy the way they need me to in order to thrive, and to give back to myself just as often as i can. Thus, why I'm up at nearly 11pm writing. Writing is and will always be my saving grace.

I hope this life update finds you well and that you guys enjoyed a little insight to our current world. We have so many adventures coming up this fall and I can't wait to share those with you. I'm most excited about spending Thanksgiving in New York as a family of five. I can't believe its been this long since we've been out to New York and I just can't wait!
