Sick

Monday, May 5, 2014
Yep, you read that right. Mrs. "I never get sick" Howland has come down with some type of stomach bug. I have been persistently upchucking the last two days, and haven't moved from my bed or couch enough to say so. I know there's a bug going around our area, and allegedly I "should" be back in good health in the next couple days. I really hope that's true because I can't bare to be bedridden much longer. Especially with Ava. I feel so bad for my bug. I don't know if she's feeding off of mama's energy or what, but all day today, all she wants is for mama to hold her. She hasn't been like this since she was like six or seven months old. She doesn't want to play with her toys, she doesn't want to pull her brother's whiskers, something is definitely up.

She did spend pretty much all day with her daddy yesterday, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Each time she saw me, she'd reach for me, but I was running to the bathroom to throw up. Even though we were still in our house, Ava has never spent that much time away from me before. I definitely didn't like it, and I'm guessing she didn't either. Justin was pretty great with her though. He's never had to take on full responsibility of baby by himself. He's also never had a reason to, until this weekend. I obviously still nursed Ava when she needed it, but other than that, she was with her dad.

I was so sick yesterday I contemplated going to the E.R. to seek some answers. That really is my biggest fear right now. Not only would I be leaving Ava alone (without being able to nurse), I'm in fear that they'd end up giving me some type of "fix all" medicine that wasn't breastfeeding safe. Aside from wanting Ava to wean herself, I definitely don't want to give her cow's milk early, or worse, resort to formula. I don't know what that would do to her digestive system, and I'm praying we never have to find out. I could be completely blowing this out of proportion, but I'm still going to stick it out these next couple days to see if there is any improvement.

From what I've collected the digestive issues that I have cannot be passed through breast milk, so it looks like I'm just going to have to suck it up until I get better. I'm really thankful for Justin being here and helping out. Not a single complaint out of him, and he's even gone as far to do the dishes and laundry (the way I like). That is seriously a miracle! I felt so bad that Justin spent his birthday weekend taking care of me. I know he doesn't mind, but that wasn't the exact idea of relaxation I had in mind for him his birthday weekend. We also (most likely) still have guests coming out to visit. Ironically, they have a sick baby on their hands right now. I hope baby Adalin and myself start to feeling better soon!

I'm off guys. Ava is waking up from her afternoon nap, and I'm sure she's ready to snuggle mama.

Happy Monday All!

Make Over

Tuesday, October 8, 2013
Before I write anything else, I just want everyone to know, I am aware that we are only  in the month of October. I just couldn't fight the urge to completely Christmify my blog. It honestly makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I've been playing the Michael Buble Christmas c.d. all day long. All I really need is for Georgia's weather to get with the program.

I hate that I can't experience Autumn in this state. Instead of scarves, boots, and leggings; I'm wearing summer dresses, capris and sandals. Am I going to allow that to stop me from being a lover of holidays? I think not! We are actually suppose to be going through a tropical depression with a chance of a "cold front" I highly doubt the cold front. Today was good. I'm tired and a little more drained than usual, but I can't complain.

We are making progress on the compassion reassignment requirements. Having my mom's doctors' on a different coast and time zone have made things a bit more challenging. Ava has been a character today. Each time I have tried to leave a message with someone involving the compassion reassignment stuff, she starts yelling. She hasn't yelled in about a week, so it kind of caught me by surprise. I got a laugh out of it though. My girl knows just what to do to keep her mama smiling. It's crazy how little beings are good that way.

I'm feeling bad for my mom and sister today. They are both sick! My mama barely has a voice. I was kind of bummed because I really wanted to talk to her today. I know we have messaging, but I hate texting and she honestly needs to rest. I'm hoping they start to feeling better really soon. As I'm writing this Miss Ava decided it would be okay to scoot halfway across my area rug.. That is not okay! I'm off for now! Enjoy your Tuesday all!
